About Our Founders
In 2007, while caring for his grandmother, Matt
Mukoyama recognized a vital need in his community-a
resource that could offer specialized care for those in similar
situations. This realization led him to start 1+1 Cares. Matt's
academic background includes a BS in Accounting from California
State University, Sacramento. Prior to founding 1+1 Cares, he
contributed his expertise to Symantec as a Merger and Acquisitions
Finance Manager. Matt's vision for 1+1 Cares was more than just
founding a company; he aimed to create a family-oriented
organization deeply invested in the community's wellbeing. He
emphasized the importance of prioritizing the care of loved ones, a
sentiment that aligns closely with the company's ethos
According to Ray, leaving his corporate job to
co-found 1+1 Cares was an easy decision, borne out of his own
challenges with finding proper senior care for his family. While
his corporate job paid the bills, he wanted the emotional
connection and personal satisfaction of delivering real, tangible
benefits to seniors.
Ray graduated from UC Davis in Economics and Psychology and
honed his business and leadership skills in the corporate world as
a Senior Project Manager for Symantec. Driven by a passion to make
a meaningful impact, he co-founded 1+1 Cares with Matt to
revolutionize senior caregiving.
Our team's journey reflects many others', highlighting personal
struggles that have fueled a drive for impactful change.
Emphasizing quality and affordability in care, the company operates
on the principle of strength in teamwork, supporting families in
their quest for exceptional care.
Matt and Ray always wanted to have a larger impact on society;
however, they felt that growing organically would not allow them to
do so. Their franchise model facilitates providing more families
with faster access to better care.
