Many Americans have a sweet tooth. A big part of that is popcorn. The global popcorn market is predicted to reach $15 billion by 2023. To meet the demand of 45 quarts of popcorn consumed per person per year, prospective franchisees can invest in the Del's Popcorn Shop franchise. The candy franchise has been around since 1934 when it was founded by John Baldwin, who opened a tiny confectionary called the Popcorn Shop at 145 North Main Street in downtown Decatur, Ill. He also ran a printing business in the basement of the confectionary. During this time, popcorn was a delicacy because of WWII. During a meeting with a friend, everything changed. In 1945, Baldwin leased the Popcorn Shop to Del Barnett, who later purchased it in 1952 and changed its name to Del's Popcorn Shop. Fast forward to today, and the brand is well known around the U.S.
As a franchisee with the Del's Popcorn Shop, you have multiple streams of revenue including In-store products, merchandise, corporate and other seasonal gifts, and online sales. Customers can't get enough of the candy brand's popcorn, fudge, roasted nuts, chocolates, and more. While you will learn everything you need to know from the franchisor, previous business experience is always a plus. You will have great support and training, which consists of an initial training program that lasts for 21 days at the brand's College of Popcorn Knowledge. At the College of Popcorn Knowledge, training includes classroom and on-the-job instruction, plus five days in an operating store. A representative will spend four days providing onsite assistance and additional training, after the grand opening.
